Wedding Planning on A Less than Royal Budget

Category : Wedding Planning

Luckily for some, money is not a question when it comes to planning their wedding – but if, like me, there isn’t an endless pot of gold at the end of that rainbow – how and where do you start budgeting for your upcoming wedding?

gary bonar photography

Below are a few pointers to help you get started.

  • Work out, realistically, what you can afford to save each month – allow room for luxuries. Weddings can take a lot of planning, and are generally booked quite far in advance – being super strapped for cash for a long period of time will not be fun. Wedding Chaos offer some good advice on ways to save
  • As un-romantic as the chat may be, if going overboard simply isn’t an option, then you may need to discuss with both sets of parents if they are willing to contribute anything to your big day (fingers crossed!)
  • Be as organised as you possibly can be – there are loads of great wedding budget tools out there – these will help you write that long to do list, and hopefully from there you can work out what you really do/don’t need; Confetti, Wedding Chaos, Hitched.co.uk, You and Your Wedding offer a few tools to get you started
  • Get yourself onto some of the popular wedding forums – You and Your wedding and the Scottish Wedding Directory are packed full of brides to be, wedding planners, photographers, florists and so on, all willing to offer help and suggestions on your wedding (and sometimes not so wedding) related queries
  • Enlist the help of a wedding planner. Wedding planners comes in all shapes and sizes.  The preconception may be that only the rich and famous need their help, but most wedding planners have a long list of contacts and may be able to make you savings elsewhere
  • Deciding on the type of wedding you want can help massively. Small and intimate – and likely to be affordable, or grand scale where savings may need to be made 0 either way, decide early on to help you plan more efficiently

All in all. Plan plan, and then when you think you have planned, plan your wedding some more!

For most of us, our wedding is likely to be the biggest event we will have to organise, and being prepared is the only way.

Good luck and happy planning – I want to know all about it!

Charlotte Balbier – 2011 Bridalwear Collection

Category : Wedding Dress

A couple of weeks back I got a nice little envelope in the post, said envelope was addressed to “The Wedding Inspirer”. Who wouldn’t love to be known as that?!

I was delighted to find out that the package did infact contain Charlotte Balbier’s 2011 bridalwear collection.

Below is a little bit about the collection and a few of my favourite dresses.

For 2011, Charlotte Balbier is debuting her largest collection to date, over thirty new styles translating the individual styles and personalities of today’s brides.

There is always a surprise in every Charlotte Balbier collection and for the first time Charlotte has two very distinctive flavours running through the entire collection. The first, her interpretation of fantasy and romance: the English Tea Party collection. The second: the Sabella Collection, a nod to her multicultural heritage; the fusion of the Sicilian Dolce Vita with the French Savoir Faire.

The English Tea Party Collection

Gazing back to a childhood favourite, Charlotte’s designs for this collection take you through the looking glass with Alice Wonderland. Moonlight fairytales and ethereal romance vivifies Charlotte’s signature vintage laces, feminine styling and soft pastel hues. The dresses come alive in a setting of the Mad Hatters Tea party meets an English secret garden, in essence Charlotte’s imagery embodying the glamour of cool Britannia.

The Sabella Collection

Charlotte has successfully built her reputation on creating a brand and design portfolio that truly is an extension of her personality and heritage. With her French surname, Balbier, from her grandfather, the Sabella collection is named after her Sicilian Grandmother from whom she still feels her strong connection to Italy which reflects in her designs. For 2011 we see a renaissance for Charlotte in the Sabella connection. Now in her 8th year in the industry, there is a much more sophisticated accomplished feel to the collection. Taffeta and soft silks in sophisticated styles sit alongside soft pleating with timeless elegance and Italian laces that are the ultimate in chic. The black and white photography of this collection connotes the attitude and style of Italian fashion.

Fabulous aren’t they! My ultimate favourite is Caroltta – what is your favourite dress from the new collection?

Sunday Stumbles, A Royal Wedding Theme – Royal Blue

1

Category : Stumble on Sundays

Well last week, we went for a purple theme – but due to the big announcement of the upcomming royal wedding this week, I thought this week’s Sunday Stumbles could focus on some details for a Royal Blue themed wedding!

  • Ideal for a princess – this peacock feathered hair clip by the HeadbandShoppe is lovely.

  • A fan of spray paint myself, I plan on doing a bit of DIY when it comes to our table decorations – but if you can’t be bothered with all of that, then how about these;

  • I can only imagine how difficult a table plan at a royal wedding would be! The very least you can do if is have very regal looking stationery;

  • The high street has some excellent bridesmaid dresses on offer, places like Coast, Monsoon, Oasis and even H&M good places to look! I love this royal blue maxi dress from Coast – and it’s on sale too (not that the royal wedding will be done on a tight budget!)

  • Coloured shoes are a big thing for brides at the moment – how about this gorgeous pair;
