We Booked our Honeymoon!

Category : Honeymoon

I travelled a lot before I met my other half, I loved travelling and was always looking forward to my next trip. Backpacking or living it up in a fancy hotel, it didn’t matter – I loved going on holiday.

The OH on the other hand, didn’t even have a passport when I met him. He was and still is happy just to have break from the daily grind. Since we met, we haven’t travelled half as much as I would like – but one thing we do agree on, is that we aren’t the type of couple who could spend a fortnight on a beach. So far our holidays involve wandering, seeing the sights, getting lost in the unknown, stopping for coffee or ice cream and sampling the local tipple.

One place, we haven’t been or that I never made it to was New York. So that is exactly where we are heading……NEW YORK!!

6 days on our own. The first week of December, when all the christmas decorations are up and we have even more of an excuse to shop.

I can’t wait.

Empire state, Rockerfeller, Broadway, Ice skating in central park, a trip to Tiffany’s, wandering in Greenwich village, time square and a trip down fifth avenue………..how darn exciting!!

Only 6 months to go – but first, the wedding!

Confessions of a not so Rock’n'Roll Hen

Category : Hen Party

I am not rock’n'roll. There I said it.

I like what I like and what I like does not a traditional hen party make. There will be no horns or blow up objects of any kind. I will not wear a t-shirt branded in any “hen” like way.

So what am I doing for my hen?

Well, myself and 11 of my close friends are heading to a house in Dalgety Bay (just outside Edinburgh). One Friday night after work we will head up to a big house with a cinema, a wii, a nice garden (fingers crossed the Scottish weather works in our favour), a homely kitchen and a very big fridge.

Face masks and cocktails, films and takeaways, just dance and lots of chatting, shopping and afternoon tea, did I mention cocktails already?

A girly weekend, with the girls I enjoy spending time with, but never seem to have enough time to see as much of as I would like.

It sounds perfect doesn’t it?!

Can a diet really be this pleasing?

Category : Wedding Diet

Generally I suck¬† at diets. I have a good week, think I can eat whatever I like again and that’s the cycle, week in, week out.

For some reason though, last week I didn’t do that. After my post on Diet Chef and how it works and the fact that I still had a cupboard full of their yummy food and didn’t need to go food shopping, it made sense just to keep going.

Two whole weeks of meals that are pretty darn good (I’m excluding the mixed bean salad here, that wasn’t my cup of tea) and I am still finding it ok, actually, better than ok – enjoyable! This wedding diet could be “the one”.

So, how did I do this week? 2lbs off.

2 weeks, 7lbs down and more importantly not remotely interested in giving up! AWESOME…..roll on week 3.

Wonderful Wedding Planning Weekend

Category : Wedding Planning

Ok, so I know it is Thursday and this post is a little late…but hey ho, that’s the way it goes sometimes.

A couple of months back I updated our to wedding do list and somehow didn’t do anything during those two months! So, with only 4 months to go, I got myself into a little panic and decided it was time to get a move on. So what did we do;

  • Spoke with wedding co-ordinator and now have all the timings finalised
  • Chose wedding breakfast and wine/drinks packages
  • Decided we don’t need anyone to play music during ceremony and that Chris will make a cd of things we want to be played
  • The florist deposit isfinally paid (sorry again Elaine!)
  • Started in the ribbon topiary trees (more on this later!)
  • Got the groom and my dads kilt booked – best man and son going in next week
  • Got a fringe cut and decided I definately don’t want this look for the wedding – not entirely positive – but a step in the right direction…

Phew, what a weekend.

It really is amazing how even the small details seem to be big decisions when it comes to wedding planning!
