Sandra and Kevin – No.29 Private Members Club, Glasgow

Category : Wedding Photographer

City weddings are a big thing at the moment. A city girl at heart, I love these kind of weddings.

Whilst some prefer relaxing country retreats or holidays by the beach, I prefer the hustle and bustle of a city break. So it makes sense that our wedding is in the city centre. A challenge perhaps for the photographers with lots of people buzzing around, but lots of opportunities to get really creative and capture some unusual shots.

Nick Kirk shoots a lot of city weddings. The preferred photography supplier for both St Andrews in the Square and Oran Mor, this man has a keen eye for making the most of his location. Below he shows us Sandra and Kevin’s wedding at No. 29, the private members club in Glasgow’s Royal Exchange Square.

Nick says that a bit of rain in the afternoon made getting some outdoor portrait pictures kind of tricky, but they managed to make use of the umbrellas on the veranda, providing some protection and got some cool portraits of the lovely couple.

I am trying out a new picture gallery – what do you think? Like, love, don’t care either way – I want to know!

A Glenbervie Wedding by Gary Bonar

Category : Wedding Photographer

Hands up who enjoys looking at wedding photos? (me, me, me!). It doesn’t matter who the photos belong to, it doesn’t matter that I don’t know the couple or their friends and family in them – I just love how happy and how much everyone seems to be enjoying themselves at the couples wedding.

So, what makes having this site so brilliant? Wedding photographers actually send me photos to look at!

And here is one I got sent earlier – another fabulous wedding by Gary Bonar. Today, Gary has launched his brand spanking new website, www.garybonarphotography.com, where you can see more of his latest work.

George & Kirsteen were married at St. Mary’s church in Kirkintilloch followed by the reception at Glenbervie House Hotel. Having been to a wedding at Glenbervie a year or so ago, I can definitely say that it is a stunning venue. The building itself is lovely and inside the reception rooms are very impressive.

Unfortunately for George and Kristeens big day, Gary had to deal with really heavy rain showers meaning he had to get creative indoors! But the results are still fantastic – I love this shot of the men running through the grounds – very Braveheart like!

Thanks for sharing some more of your photos Gary!

Khaleel & Colette – Royal Hotel, Bridge of Allan

Category : Wedding Photographer

Wedding photos with lots of emotion – could a couple ask for more from their wedding photos?

I love these photos taken by Gary Bonar, they capture so many preciously close moments of Khaleel & Colette’s wedding day. From serious, tender moments, to that little bit of fun and yeehaa moment when you are pronounced man and wife – it’s great to see it all.

Gary tells us a bit about the couple’s special day;

“Khaleel & Colette were married at the Royal Hotel in The Bridge of Allan.

Their son Luca was born on the same day as my daughter so this wedding was a wee bit extra special for me as I really felt a strong bond with Khaleel – we went for our first pint as fathers together!

We were blessed with such a beautiful day for their wedding and the main images of the bride and groom were taken in a little park just down the road from the venue.

I am really happy with the end result and glad that Khaleel & Colette are too!”

Kerry & Stewart’s Very Vintage Wedding

Category : Wedding Photographer

Yesterday I was feeling quite down about our wedding. For no good reason, other than the fact it seems so far away and I want to start doing all the small decorative things I have in my head but know that I should wait a while!

Then I came across Struve Photography and one wedding in particular jumped out.  Kerry and Stewart. A wedding, where quite literally, the photos are able to show just how much fun their wedding day was. I was bowled over by just how much of this couples personality shines through.

Kristin tells us a bit about taking the photos;

Kerry asked me to photograph her wedding almost as soon as she was engaged. She knew exactly what she wanted, she’d researched some images and her dress was inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s dress in Funny Face.

It was a lovely day, with both a civil and church ceremony. As Kerry knew what she wanted, I was able to think about my approach before I took the photographs. Post-production techniques can be a bit hit-or-miss if its left as an after thought, so pre-planning was very important to creating successful images.

Kerry and Stewart loved their wedding photographs. I must admit, I loved working on the photographs! I love vintage inspired photography, I think it complements vintage details including cars, dresses, and decorations extremely well. I love that more brides want more creative approaches to their wedding photographs, as it should be something you love for a lifetime.

Lorna & Andrew – Oran Mor, Glasgow West End

For the past couple of years, our Christmas party has been held in the fabulous Oran Mor. A gorgeous, recently renovated church in the heart of Glasgow’s West End, Oran Mor is a the perfect for a grand wedding or event. We have had some fantastic nights out there, great food, ideal location and a big dancefloor! It amazes me that some people still don’t know that it exists!

With it’s winding staircase up to the old church hall and impressive mural on the ceiling, Oran Mor really does offer couples their fairytale wedding setting.

As you may have guessed by now, I have a great love for fantastic photos and am delighted to share some more of Nick Kirk’s latest work at Oran Mor.

Impressive building, stunning bride – and some more amazing photography from Nick! I absolutely adore that last shot looking onto Oran Mor – tell us Nick how did you do it?!
