Another St Andrews in the Square Wedding!

Category : Wedding Photographer

When the lovely Nick – from NDK photography – told me that he had shot a wedding at St Andrews in the Square at the weekend, I was desperate to see some photos!

Having done the google search a million times (mabye 5 million…), I never tire of seeing images of the place. I sneaked another peek at the venue a couple of weeks back, I was passing (kind of) and was desperate to see the hall set up, and,  luckily it was. The hall was set up for the meal and looked amazing, it made it seem even more real, in the not to distant future, it will be all set up for our big day!

Below are some images taken by NDK photography from Gail and Steven’s wedding on Saturday. Gorgeous couple, fabulous venue – and clearly a talented photographer!

Elaine & Brian – The Story of A Tiffany Ring

Category : Elaine & Brian, Real Weddings

I have been following the story of TiffanyRing on the SWD forum for a while now. An excited bride to be, it has been a pleasure reading all about the joys and decisions she has made for her big day.

Speaking about planning their wedding, Elaine says “I loved the planning! Best bit of planning, I would have to say picking my dress. I loved trying them all on, although the one I eventually chose was picked out by the sales assistant as she felt I was choosing ones to try that were “too old” for me! I’m glad she was good at her job!”.

After 2 years of planning, Elaine and Brian finally had their big day. No nerves (perhaps due to the champagne?!) just excitement to see her hubby to be and all their friends and family there to share their wedding day.

And what a day it looked to be! Elaine and Brian’s photograher, Steven Higgins, has kindly shared some photos for you all to have a peek!

St Andrews in the Square

Speaking of why the couple chose St Andrews in the Square, Elaine says;

“We wanted a city venue in Glasgow that we could have the ceremony & reception in to save travelling etc plus I’m a real Glasgow girl so didn’t want countryside etc. plus I knew the food had an excellent reputation and we totally fell in love with the building, so beautiful.”

“This was one of my favourite parts of the day – it is such a beautiful entrance to SAINTS and when the doors opened and I heard my music I was beaming from ear to ear! I loved seeing all my guests and my groom, of course, at the top waiting for me. It was a magical moment that I will never forget.”

Man & Wife

With so many memories from the day, I asked Elaine if she had one that sticks in her head;

“Well apart from walking down the aisle, I loved dancing with my groom at the first dance, as well as all my family & friends at night. Me and all my friends jumping up and down to my favourite song, Mr. Brightside!”

I love this photo above of the couple making their entrance to the wedding breakfast – to the tune of Rocky!

“We hired a baby grand piano for the venue and a pianist as we wanted something a bit different – we had seen pipers, harpists & string quartets at other weddings but the piano looked amazing at saints and our pianist was brilliant – well worth the money.”

And some final words from Elaine on being married,

“I think, after 9 years, it is great to say that I’ve married my best friend and that we feel an extra closeness, if that’s possible! I love having my memories of the day and people telling us what a great day they had, it makes it extra special.”

Seeing this wedding at St Andrews in the Square makes me mega excited, the place look fabulous – a truly awesome place to hold a wedding! Big thanks to Elaine and Brian for letting me show off their day!

Our Wedding Venue – St Andrews in the Square

Category : Wedding Venues

When we first started looking for a wedding venue, we were bamboozled. Did we want a hotel, a castle or a picturesque field with a rather large picnic blanket?

In short, we had no idea.

On our journey, we kept an open mind and visited a range of places;

One place stood out for us, St Andrews in the Square – perfect in every way for our special day. An 18th century, grade A listed, former church in Glasgow’s merchant city, who knew such a gem was hidden in a residential square – and so close to the city centre! Take a tour and see for yourselves how amazing this hidden gem actually is (the 360 images take a few seconds to load – be patient)!

On our travels, we came across the very talented Stuart Walker. Having photographed a wedding at St Andrews in the Square recently – Stuart has kindly shared some of his work with us!

From these photos I think it’s clear to see why we loved the place so much!

What made you chose your venue? Was it love at first sight?
